Karen Rockower

History

Karen Rockower was born and raised in central Pennsylvania in a family of 9. Her parents are from Philadelphia and moved to central PA just before they started having children. Karen and her 6 siblings were all were encouraged to investigate their artistic potential.
Karen studied piano and voice as a child and performed in many productions in school and in the community.

She received her BFA in Acting at Ithaca College and moved to New York where she started acting and performing her music. Karen has worked as an actress in a full lenth feature film, off Broadway shows and even an HBO episode. But the more she played music, she found the life of an actress was taking second place to her songwrititng.

Karen has performed in a number of bands including: Karen Rockower and the Hassle, Black Licorice, The Sad Captains,My Ugly Phase, The Angelic Bombs and Bugs in the Dark. She continues to perform solo and is always writing new material.
Currently, Karen is working on a solo album with producer Mark Turrigiano. The release is expected for the end of 2008.
